"I knew you were a classical pianist with high accolades, but I didn't expect to walk into such a professional jam session."
Shira had been to concerts before, but none like this one.
She hadn't been out to the symphony in awhile. It was too much trouble to get ready, fight traffic, find her seat.. only to doze off and not be engaged for half the concert.
She didn't know exactly what to expect with a private house concert, but she figured she would give it a try.
It exceeded her expectations.
Shira tells me in this video, “When you’re in the concert hall, it’s not as engaging. I can see myself going to the concert hall and falling asleep, unfortunately. But we were completely engaged the ENTIRE time.
It was interactive rather than just observant. It was super educational and really unique.”
But what was her favorite part?
"The Snacks."
Just kidding, she says. It's actually the accessibility to that level of performance in somebody’s living room.
"Normally the most interaction you get with performers is if you wait at the stage door afterwards to get their autograph on the playbill. [but] we were all laughing and having a couple of drinks.. we were chatting before and after”
When she and her partner walked away from the concert, they thought to themselves, "Wow, did we actually just experience that?? That was SO cool."
